Agios Nikolaos is a charming fishing village nestled in the Mani region of southern Greece, approximately 4km (2.5 miles) directly south of Stoupa. The distance between the two villages can easily be walked or cycled along a mostly-flat scenic coastal path that largely follows the rocky shoreline, offering stunning views of the Messinian Gulf.
With a population of just over 400, the village offers an authentic Greek experience featuring a scenic harbour, traditional stone houses, and a relaxed pace of life. It’s renowned for its picturesque waterfront lined with cafés and tavernas serving fresh seafood and local delicacies.
Agios Nikolaos remains less touristy than its neighbours, preserving its tranquil atmosphere and traditional character. The village is surrounded by natural beauty – olive groves, striking sea views, and the dramatic backdrop of the Taygetos Mountains. Visitors can also explore local Byzantine churches and the nearby sandy beach of Pantazi.
